He remained silent through the night since Spock took his leave from their bit of entertainment. He was curious to see what would come of it, as much as he was curious to see if the young James T. Kirk that had taken over the Enterprise in this universe was as gusty as his own.

Seemed that the young man had no balls, because otherwise he should have been long since dead.

There had been the young woman in blue with fear in her eyes. It was far from a reaction he was unused to. Instead, it was one he damn well expected from his crew. There was no stronger crew, none more feared, none with a more widely spread reputation. To him, Kirk was a young bastard, headstrong, vicious, and good in a fight. He also was no fool to know that the younger man was trying to become captain, but it was also something he was used to. He did not get to the age he was by being foolish about threats.

But for now, he was trapped here in a place of weaklings. Already, he was taking it to his advantage. It would be interesting to see how far it went.

So he remained in his casual sprawl, eyes closed as he half-dozed like a cat. If someone approached, he would wake.

You might not, but your better part would. *looking vaguely amused at her reaction*

The Commander and I did nothing more then what he wanted. I think I've said more to you then I did to him.

If she killed a man for that, I hardly consider her my better counterpart.

*fixes her hands on her hips, narrowing her eyes at him* Oh I see, so the Commander asked you to send him to medical? He wasn't just in your way? How very logical. *realizes her tone has shifted back into sarcasm and drops her hands to her sides* It takes a lot to bring down a Vulcan.

Better to kill him then end up his unwilling bed partner, I would assume. *points out in a lazy tone*

He was more then capable of getting out of my way.

Not when you've fought them as part of your life. *gives her a very long look, then settles back again.* You learn what it takes or you die.

I have other ways of dealing with unwanted attention that don't require breaking the law.

*pauses for a long moment, tilting her head to view him curiously in spite of herself* And why would you need to fight Vulcans? They're peaceful, controlled. Is that... is that not how it is in your world?

*a very brief moment of actual surprise crosses his face, then vanishes* It is against the law... not to kill.. *his eyes close for a moment, digesting this*

They are peaceful and controlled now that they have been subdued.

*speaks a little slower, a little softer, as if instructing* Yes. It is.

Subdued? *looks down at the floor with a puzzled frown before taking a careful step forwards* What is your world?

Different then your own, as yours is different then mine.

*his tone changes, slightly* Tell me about your Captain. *an almost respectful command*

*continues to look at him thoughtfully, unsure what to share if at all* He's a good man - extremely efficient at his job.

*her own tone becomes softer, less defensive* Do you know how you got here? What happened? Maybe if we knew - if you helped us - we could help you get back home.

*slowly he shifts, sitting so his legs are over the bed, gloved (how does he still have those?) hands folding together and he rests his chin on them.*

You tell me what I want to know, and I'll tell you what you need to know. *a brow lifts* Is that a deal?

*tenses a little as he moves, though she soon relaxes again once he settles down*

*eyes him - and the gloves - carefully before conceding with a small nod* Tell me what it is you want to know and I'll decide if it's a reasonable request, and you do the same. A fair compromise?

*a small smirk* I always did like a woman that would take charge like that. You've showed more balls then the other people on this ship so far. A fair compromise.

I want to know about this world I find myself in. About this... Starfleet and Federation.

*raises a brow at his comment but says nothing of it*

The United Federation of Planets, formed in 2161 between Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites. Starfleet is dedicated to deep-space exploration and the advancement of knowledge about the universe we live in. If needed we also serve as military defense for the Federation. But we're peaceful and we don't solve things by killing those who oppose us. *smiles ever so slightly* If you'd like a more concise history, I'll get you a data PADD.

Do you have diplomats in your world? Some sort of goverment, authority to monitor?

Very, very interesting. So different then my world. *his eyes close a moment* The Terran Empire began when the Vulcans scouts landed on earth as a prelude to their invasion. That first landing party was stopped, their vehicle obtained, and we became capable of warp travel for the first time.

The Terran Empire is run by the humans and has several species beneath our heels, including the Vulcans that had tried to conquer us.

*his eyes look to hers* ...We give them one chance to surrender. If they do not... more extreme measures are taken.

From: [identity profile] just-uhura.livejournal.com
Terran Empire? *eyes widen slightly at his relevations, and she lets out a slow, deep breath*

So Vulcans are your enemies? Is Spock... I mean, Spock in your world, is he your enemy? Is that why you attacked him?

Date: 2009-07-26 07:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iron-command.livejournal.com
They are not our enemies any longer. Now they are simply ours. Spock...

*a very slow, strange sort of smirk* He is my first officer. Your Spock is obviously not mine.

You mean you dominated them? *wrinkles her nose in slight disgust*

*straightens back up, her tone becoming a lot firmer* No. He's not yours. *her gaze falters for a moment and falls to the floor, before she meets his eyes again* So you dominate the Vulcans. Is that how you did... whatever it was you did to him? What was that?

Date: 2009-07-26 07:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iron-command.livejournal.com
They were coming to conquer us. Would you simply roll over and show your stomach to an invader? *gives her a look*

You have your own weapons. *a gesture to the phaser at her hip* We have ours.

It was clear enough to me when he was foolish turn his back on me that this was far from the Spock of my universe. *a slight tilt of his head* He looks just as pretty on his knees, though. *there's something else in his tone*

Date: 2009-07-26 07:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-uhura.livejournal.com
*considers the thought with a shrug of her shoulders, gazing down at the phaser on her hip* No, I suppose I wouldn't. But like I said, we don't do things like that here. Here we negotiate first, fight as a last resort. Vulcans helped us see the logic in that.

*a slight intake of breath, she looks away from him at his comment* Whatever your relationship was with your Spock, like you said. *steels her gaze back to his* He's not yours. And like I said, if you work with me, we can help you find a way back to where you're supposed to be. That doesn't include attacking members of this crew.

Maybe it's your way of things here to let yourself be kept prisoner, but not my way. I was defending my life, if you need to look at it that way.

*his brows raise, and he laughs, a very brief, rich sound* He is mine, now. I will work with you, and you alone, lovely Uhura.

Date: 2009-07-26 08:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-uhura.livejournal.com
None of us are prisoners, the Federation allows us our freedom. The only reason you're down in the brig is because you threatened the security of the ship.

*shivers at his laugh, though she takes great measures to hide it* He's a person. He belongs to nobody. *takes a step closer* You realize if the Captain requests you to answer his questions, he'll expect you to.

Date: 2009-07-26 08:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iron-command.livejournal.com
I already explained my actions.

You tell me he belongs to nobody. But do you really know if that's true? *slowly tilts his head* I will deal with you, or Spock. You, because you have more balls then your captain or I would already be dead. Spock, because I would rather deal with what I already know is mine.

Date: 2009-07-26 08:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-uhura.livejournal.com
*tone becomes sharp* No. You and me, that's how it works. I'll make sure the Captain agrees to that but we leave Spock out of this. If you need anything, you'll ask me and nobody else will bother you.

*crosses her arms over her chest again, raising a brow in question* Do we have a deal... *shakes her head* I don't even know what I'm supposed to call you. What would you prefer?

Date: 2009-07-26 08:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iron-command.livejournal.com
*leans back, watching her* I cannot be held responsible if Spock decides to come on his own, but otherwise I will agree.

I prefer to be called Captain Christopher Pike. Since I've been informed one already exists... for now, Pike will do just fine.

I will assume that normally here we would shake hands. *a small breath out that is definitely a laugh*

From: [identity profile] just-uhura.livejournal.com
*glances at the doorway with a small, imperceptible sigh* Alright, we're on the same page. Good.

*looks back to him with a careful smile* Alright, Pike it is. *looks at the barrier between them* In this case, I'll take your word.

*steps back as a guard enters the room with a tray of food* I'm sure the replicators are just as terrible in your world, so it won't be too much of a disappointment. Have a nice dinner Pike, I'll be back later. *nods to him, then the guard and takes her leave*

Date: 2009-07-26 08:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iron-command.livejournal.com
*watches the guard slide the tray inside with a quick flicker of the barrier, but he ignores it for now* ...A lovely day, Uhura. *murmured as he lays back, eyes closing again*

*he would eat when he finished thinking on all that she told him about the Federation, Starfleet, and the crew in particular*
